We offer a mix of telephone and in person consultations. Telephone consultations attract a rebate from Medicare if you have attended in the past 12 months. Please wear face mask if you have any infectious symptoms when entering our clinics.
The GPs at this practice bill privately and payment is required following your consultation. The GPs bill privately to give us time to hear your story, examine you adequately and provide a proper explanation and plan for you. Unfortunately the Government rebate doesn’t cover the cost of your consultation hence out of pocket fee for service. Your GP has autonomy with regards to their individual billing practices.
To assist you Mt Martha Village Clinic has installed the latest technology for you to claim your rebate from Medicare straight into your account. The GPs may discount fees for health care card holders and pensioners. Department of Veterans Affairs gold card holders are usually bulk billed.
If you have attended the practice in the past 12 months, then you may opt to book a standard telephone consultation. Your GP will instruct you and can arrange for any scripts or pathology/imaging requests to be sent to you via sms. Referrals may be sent on your behalf via encrypted email or collected in person. Telephone consultations attract private fees and are same as the consultation fee schedule below.
Your GP will try and call you around your allocated time but may be later. “No caller ID” will be displayed on your phone when your GP rings. If you miss the call the GP will aim to call you once again. If you miss both calls, you will need to reschedule another appointment.
Your GP may suggest a video consultation via our AMS app depending on the circumstances. You may opt to book a telehealth video consultation online or via our receptionist. You can download and open the AMS connect APP to access your Telehealth video consultation.
We use secure service via our online provider Automed. You can download the AMS Connect app to your smart phone, follow the instructions to link it to MMVC and click on Telehealth Appointments at the time your consultation is booked. Your GP may run late and they will ping your phone when they are ready.

The GPs at our practice usually bulk bill some services such as childhood immunisations and some services given by the nurse with your GP’s referral.
Your GP may choose to take the Medicare rebate as payment for some consultations. In these cases, you will be notified that we will send you a link via sms for you to follow which details the services provided that you can consent yes or no to. If this does not suit you, please say so at the time you are offered this. For any procedure such as plaster, wound repair or small lesion excision, there may be out of pocket costs. Please discuss these with our nurse or your doctor.
Private fees are generally charged for all consults relating to TAC and WorkCover. Please take your receipt as evidence of payment for reimbursement to your employer or your WorkCover insurer or TAC. The rebates for WorkCover and TAC do not cover the cost of your consultation, therefore accounts are generally a matter between you as the patient and your employer, or between you and the TAC/ WorkCover insurer.
We aim to keep appointments available for people who need to be seen by a doctor on the day.
Please note our fee if you do not attend or cancel within 1 hour of your appointment. If you cancel within 1 hour then 50% of the standard fee will apply. If you do not attend at all, then full fee will apply for the time GP set aside to see you.
